Course Summary

This course is designed to enhance your understanding of the science behind removable implant prostheses for general dentists; enabling them to provide more durable prostheses for their patients.

It is suitable for all levels of general dentists, as well as dental prosthetists and dental technicians. While prior experience with implant placement and restoration is preferred, it is not essential for comprehending the course material.


Participants will receive a comprehensive textbook authored by Professor Huh ("Implant RPD").

Course Curriculum

Day 1 - SAT 28th Sept

Fundamentals of Traditional RPD design and their applications for the Implant Assisted RPDs

CONTENTS

  1. Implant placement in the posterior edentulous area to prevent tissue-ward movements in a distal extension RPD   

  2. Fabrication of an IARPD featuring a small number of implants with surveyed crowns   

  3. Fabrication of IARPDs using implants with attachments   

  4. IARPDs using a combination of implant bars and attachments  

  5. Application of attachment systems on implants in patients with complete edentulism: Overdenture

 + Problem Based Learning - CASE DISCUSSION

Prof Jungbo Huh will discuss three to four difficult partially or fully edentulous cases. Provide detailed information about each patient. Discuss the treatment planning process and present IARPD treatment option with detailed explanation. 

BONUS + If you send Prof Huh your difficult RPD cases before the lecture, he will prepare treatment planning and similar cases in his clinic.


Day 2 - SUN 29th Sept

Treatment Strategy for edentulous patients based on six categories of All-on-X

CONTENTS

  1. Basic knowledge of implant prosthesis. Implant position and prosthetic features in fixed prosthesis.

  2. The concept of artificial ridge in case of abnormally positioned implants. 

  3. The understanding of implant’s role in edentulous patient. Retention, Support, and Stability.

  4. Detailed description about the six categories of All-on-X.

  5. The clinical benefits of AOX type 3 in terms of cleansing.

  6. Detailed clinical cases using AOX type 3 in cases of partially or fully edentulous patients.

  7. JB fork application without using occlusal wax rim.
